WSU Cup Series Rulebook
Official
The following rules apply at all times!
There are no exceptions unless the safety of the race is threatened.
Drivers meeting will be five minutes before the start of the race. All drivers must be present and able to hear what is discussed in the meeting. All drivers will be held accountable for rules listed below and in the drivers meeting.
1. Start/Restart:
1.1 You cannot initiate a pass before the Start/Finish Line.
1.1.a If there is a damaged car in front of you and that driver gives you permission to pass before the line and you tell the admins then you may pass.
1.2 No changing lanes before the Start/Finish Line.
1.2.a If there is a damaged car in front of you and that driver gives you permission to pass before the line and you tell the admins then you may pass.
1.3 Leader has lane choice on the start and any restarts.
1.4 Leader must go on green on all starts and restarts

2. Caution
2.1 If you are wrecking do your best to stay out of the racing line and avoid other drivers.
2.2 When a caution comes out slow down to a cautious and safe pace and catch the leaders.
2.3 Have respect for your competitors, not just by racing clean and using your head, but if you have caused multiple incidents take responsibility. It is your decision on parking your car, but if you continue to cause problems you may be parked by the admins. If this happens there may be bigger consequences.
3. Pitting
3.1 Enter pit road off of four unless otherwise told by the admins prior to the race.
3.2 Call out when entering pit road.
3.3 When entering pit road stay as far to the right (left for Watkins Glen) on pit road until you are three boxes away.
3.4 You have three pit boxes before and after your pit box to be completely out of the pit stalls. If you are in the fourth pit stall before or after your box and have not exited the stalls completely (your car is considered in or out when the front of your car is halfway out of the stall).
You will be penalized as follows:
3.4.a The first infraction will be a one point penalty.
3.4.b The second will be a two point penalty.
3.4.c The third infraction will be a three point penalty.
3.4.d If you do it more that three times all three including the remaining infractions will all be counted as incidents.
If you decided to be inconsiderate of your fellow competitors and not even attempt to get out of the pit stalls ie. all four tires are still in the pit boxes entering or exiting pit road all infractions will be counted as an incident.
Please exit your pit box area as quickly and safely as possible.
3.5 When leaving pit road get to the right (left for Watkins Glen) as quickly and safely as possible you may still race off pit road but stay as far right as possible without causing an incident.
3.6 Those in the first four pit stalls at exit may drive straight out.
3.7 Exit on the backstretch unless otherwise told by admins prior to the race
3.8 Pit Road Penalties
3.8.a Entering/Exiting improperly count as an incident
3.8.b Causing an incident coming too or exiting pit road you are parked on that lap.
4. Race Chatter
4.1 Do not call anyone out over race chat. If you do you may have all chat muted for the rest of the race at admins discretion.
4.2 Please wait until after the race is over to discuss any issues that happened during the event.
4.3 Non race chatter during the race you will receive a warning. Anything after that will result in chat muted for that race and for the next.
5. Incidents
5.1 Violation of any rules listed here or in the drivers meeting that are broken will be considered an incident.
5.2 A spin that brings out a caution
5.2.a Unless the caution is brought out and admins do not deem that iRacing should have not thrown the caution that incident will not count.
5.3 A spin that does not bring out a caution is not a incident unless:
5.3.a One that involves multiple drivers will be looked at to potentially be deemed an incident.
5.4 Contact on the racetrack that causes substantial damage to multiple competitors or brings out a caution.
5.4.a Who is at fault will be determined post race.
5.5 All cautions and contact will be reviewed post race not all cautions and contact will be deemed incident worthy. We still want to allow hard racing.
5.A Incidents on the last lap
5.A.1 We want to allow you to race hard especially on the last lap. We will be looking at any possible incidents that would be considered above as an incident. This will be looked at closely and decided by the admins on whether the wreck was intentional or retaliatory in nature.
6. Retaliation
6.1 We have no tolerance for retaliation. Dooring someone or racing them a bit harder is not retaliation but expect the same actions in return. Any possible acts of retaliation between two drivers are subject for review and will be dealt with accordingly.
6.A Tiers of Retaliation Penalties
6.A.1 Tier One: One to two race suspension plus five race probation.
6.A.2 Tier Two: Five race suspension plus ten race probation.
6.A.3 Tier Three: Ten or more race suspension plus rest of season probation.
7. Race Weather and Track State
7.1 We will be running dynamic weather for this season.
7.2 The track state will be determined by what actually happens at the track that weekend.
Example is as follows: If the cup cars are only on the track for the weekend then the track state will start at 20% and carry over from each session. If the cup and trucks or nationwide cars are running practice will start at 40%. If all three are running the practice will start at 60% and carry over. Now if there is rain before or may happen during the race the track state will carry over all the way to the rain then the track will go to green 0% for the start of the race.
8. Provisionals
8.1 You have 5 provisionals throughout the regular season and 1 provisional during the Chase.
8.2 15 points for a provisional unless there are more people and last place of those that raced received 15 points or less then you will receive the points for last place after all those that raced.

9. Penalties
9.1 Two incidents you are parked on the lap of the second incident
9.2 Three incidents you are DQ’d to tail end of the field and a three race probation.
9.3 Four incidents you are DQ’d plus one race suspension and five race probation served for the next five races you compete in.
9.4 Five incidents you are DQ’d plus three race suspension and minimum of five race probation to remainder of season probation (Admins will decide on probation length).
9.5 Six plus incidents you are DQ’d plus minimum of five race suspension and probation for the remainder of the season (Admin decision on suspension length).
10. In-Race Admin
10.1 EOL’s will only be given to drivers that did not qualify. You cannot receive one if you have already qualified.
10.2 In-race EOL’s will be given as long as they are given notice prior to one to green.
10.3 Lucky Dog will be done by iRacing not by admins.
10.4 If you drop connection for any reason you will receive two wave arounds.
10.5 In race admin does not take care of penalties that will be handled in official review after the race.
10.A. Black Flags
10.A.1 Black Flags that are cleared
10.A.1.a Passing under yellow
10.A.1.b Passing pace car
10.A.1.c Passing due to leaders lane choice on restart and spun tires
10.A.1.d Speeding penalty due to spin down pit road
10.A.1.e Unsafe entry/exit due to spin.
10.A.2 If you want a black flag cleared you must specify what the black flag was for to have reviewed by admins post race.
11. Season Format
We will be running a modified Sprint Cup Series Chase format. We will run 25 regular season races. After the 25th race we will take the top twelve drivers in the points and starting in Richmond they will run for the top four spots. After Phoenix we will take the top four drivers to Homestead and run just like the Sprint Cup Series does and they will compete for the championship. In this format wins do not count for the championship except for more points to help guarantee you a spot in the chase and possibly a chance at running for the championship.
The rules are subject to change after admin discussion and decision. You as a driver agree to these rules and abide by them at all times on the track. Failure to do so could lead to termination from the league.
Any issue or problems need to be brought to the attention of the admins. The admins are as follows.
